Expiry Review of Carbon Steel Welded Pipe

The CITT has given notice that it will pursuant to section 76.03(3) of the Special Import Measures Act initiate an expiry review of its order made August 19, 2013, concerning the dumping and subsidizing of carbon steel welded pipe. The CBSA is conducting its own investigation into whether dumping is likely to continue should the order expire.

Anti-Dumping Alert: Carbon Steel Welded Pipe 3: Dumping (Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey, and Vietnam)

The CBSA has concluded its investigation respecting the dumping of certain carbon steel welded pipe and given margins of dumping. The CITT has concluded its own investigation and found injury to the domestic industry.

DS537: Canada — Measures Governing the Sale of Wine

Canada has recently accepted requests from Argentina, Chile, the European Union, New Zealand and the United States to join in the consultations regarding the dispute launched by Australia over the measures governing the sale of wine. This is the third similar case against Canada currently ongoing at the WTO.

DS535: United States — Certain Systemic Trade Remedies Measures

Russia and Argentina has recently asked to join the consultations in the WTO matter begun by Canada against the United States. Canada has alleged 6 main areas in which the United States is not complying with its treaty obligations. This dispute is still in consultations.

DS534: United States — Anti-Dumping Measures Applying Differential Pricing Methodology to Softwood Lumber from Canada

The Director-General has recently composed the panel in the WTO case brought by Canada regarding the anti-dumping measures applying Differential Pricing Methodology to softwood lumber from Canada.

DS533: United States — Countervailing Measures on Softwood Lumber from Canada

The Panel has been composed by the Director General on July 6, 2018.
This is pursuant to Canada’ request for consultations with the United States concerning certain countervailing measures with respect to softwood lumber products from Canada.

DS531: Canada — Measures Governing the Sale of Wine in Grocery Stores (second complaint)

This is the second request for consultations by the United States with Canada concerning the sale of wine on grocery stores. The Dispute Settlement Board has recently deferred the establishment of a panel.

DS522: Canada — Measures Concerning Trade in Commercial Aircraft

The Panel has now been formed in the dispute between Brazil and Canada with respect to measures concerning trade in commercial aircraft. Even with the Panel formed, the final report is not expected until the second half of 2019.

DS520: Canada — Measures Governing the Sale of Wine in Grocery Stores

On January 18, 2017, the United States requested consultations regarding several Canadian (BC) liquor directives. Since then, Argentina, Australia, the European Union and New Zealand have joined in the Consultations with Canada and the United States.
